The Outreach team works directly on the streets to connect and build relationships with children, youth and their families who are living and working on the streets. The team build confidence and trust with children, youth and their families to provide counseling, basic health care, non formal education, (including Mobile library and Mobile school, sports, games), and also Life skills education awareness (HIV/Aids, Drugs, reproductive health, STDs, Road safety, Hygiene, Child Rights). The team works on the streets both day and night, over weekends and during holiday periods

Alternatives and options to street life are explored with the children and life plans are designed supporting children to move away from street life.

Objective

To protect children/youth while they are on the streets and help them leave street life.

Activities

team working directly in the streets, day and night, provides:

  • basic health care,
  • street education, including a mobile library that encourages children to read and attend school,
  • sports and games
  • life skills information and awareness: HIV/AIDS prevention, substance misuse prevention, Child Rights and child protection information.

Children on the streets are taught to protect themselves and explore safe income generating activities.

Alternatives and options to street life are explored with the children and life plans are designed supporting children to move away from street life.
