Mith Samlanh

To help the hospitality students gain practical skills and prepare them for employment, Mith Samlanh operates two training restaurants run by former street youth and their teachers. Romdeng has been designed to promote Cambodian culture and food, while at Friends the Restaurant, students are trained in Western and Asian cooking.

The focus of this training is building self-esteem, self-respect, teaching very high standards of hygiene and of course, great hospitality skills. When the students have finished their training, we support them to find jobs. We are grateful to all the businesses that offer employment opportunities, and we are always very proud to see former students working in many of the restaurants around Phnom Penh.

All profits from our restaurants are reinvested into Mith Samlanh’s projects for former street children and youth.

In designing and setting up Romdeng, special care was taken to use as many Cambodian made products as possible. The wooden carvings, tables, chairs and unique lights were all hand made in Cambodia.

We are especially proud to be using silk goods and cushions made by our students in the sewing training centre at Mith Samlanh. Hanging on the walls of Romdeng are beautiful paintings produced by students from art classes at Mith Samlanh. We don’t sell original paintings by students, however we do sell prints. Our staff would be happy to provide more details.
